Windowpane
Widely spaced contrast lines form clean rectangular windows over a dominant ground colour.
FABRIC TOOLS / YARN-DYED DESIGN
Create yarn-dyed plaid, tartan, check and stripe patterns by editing warp and weft colour repeats, then compare weave structures and request a physical handloom sample.
ONLINE YARN-DYED DESIGN TOOL
Build warp and weft repeats from scratch: add yarn colours, reorder yarn groups, set ends and picks, choose a weave, and preview the full repeat in real time.
Click cells to edit the weave plan: dark means warp up; light means weft up.
Weave and colour preview
On-screen colour is for development communication only and does not replace a physical standard, lab dip or strike-off approval.
PATTERN STARTERS
Load a starter into the designer, then change the yarn colours, ends, picks and weave structure to build an original yarn-dyed repeat.
Widely spaced contrast lines form clean rectangular windows over a dominant ground colour.
Balanced colour blocks use matching warp and weft proportions, usually in plain weave.
Several colour bands and unequal repeats create a layered plaid with strong crossing effects.
Fine lines in two colours cross a light ground to form a regular small-scale check.
Alternating small checks form a larger Glen-check repeat, often finished with an overcheck.
Contrasting four-end colour groups combine with twill to create the characteristic broken check.
A single fine contrast end repeats across a dark warp while the weft remains visually quiet.
Equal-width colour and light warp bands create a clear balanced stripe in plain weave.
FROM IDEA TO FABRIC
The preview is designed for early fabric development: establish a colour direction, define the warp and weft repeat, compare weave effects and send one recoverable design link when requesting a handloom sample.
Load windowpane, gingham, tartan, Tattersall, Glen check, houndstooth or a stripe starter—or begin from a blank repeat.
Set each yarn colour, reference and number of ends or picks. Reorder yarn groups and review the repeat immediately.
Compare plain, basket, twill and satin structures, or click individual points in the custom 8×8 weave editor.
Send the design ID and recovery link to SEMO so we can review the yarn colours, weave and construction before sampling.
WARP, WEFT & WEAVE
A yarn-dyed pattern is built from the order and quantity of coloured warp ends and weft picks. When both directions repeat, their crossings create the visible plaid, check or stripe.
Use the online preview to communicate colour direction and repeat structure. Physical sampling should also confirm yarn count, ends and picks, finished width, target weight and finishing requirements.
PRACTICAL NOTES
No. Screen colour is suitable for communicating a direction. Final yarn colours should be confirmed against a physical colour standard, lab dip or approved yarn.
Yes. Send the design through WhatsApp or the inquiry form. We will review the repeat, weave, yarn direction and other construction information before arranging a handloom sample.
The browser saves a local draft. When you contact SEMO from the tool and consent to online storage, it also generates a recovery link that remains available for 30 days.
